Resevoir Trail is a short, easy hike in Black Rock Forest in New York, a protected area managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail is 0.72 miles long, and it rises from about 517 feet to 915 feet, with a total elevation gain of 365 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.25 miles in, where the grade reaches 21 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Point put May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, and the station sits about 600 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The Duggan Trail starts just 0.3 miles away, and the Honey Hill Trail and Black Rock Hollow Trail are within half a mile. Storm King Mountain, a climbing area, is about 1.6 miles off.
