Summit

Nubble

New York

About

Nubble is a summit in northern New York, about 9 miles from the town of Elizabethtown. It sits among a cluster of trails and climbing cliffs, so it works well as a stop within a larger day of hiking or climbing. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. July brings typical highs around 74°F and lows near 54°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid. That station sits lower than the summit, so expect somewhat cooler temperatures on top. Winter is far colder, with January highs in the low 20s. Nubble Trail begins about half a mile away, and Washbowl Trail is close by too. Climbers will find Upper Washbowl Cliff just 0.3 miles off and Lower Washbowl Cliffs within half a mile.
