Hedgehog Trail is a 1.4-mile point-to-point hike in New York's High Peaks Wilderness, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The route rises from about 2,455 feet to 3,379 feet, a total gain of 1,009 feet, and is rated hard. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.26 miles in, where the grade reaches 30 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F and lows near 54°F, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the high peaks run cooler. The trail is not open to bikes or horses. The trip takes about an hour, and the route links to several other hikes within a mile, including the Snow - Flume Brook Crossover Trail, Deer Brook Trail and Rooster Comb Trail. Climbers can find Victor about 1.2 miles away.
