Lost Lookout Trail is a 1.2-mile moderate hike in New York, about 3.7 miles from the town of Saint Huberts. The route rises from roughly 2,000 feet to about 2,500 feet, with a total gain of 531 feet and a steepest stretch of about 23% grade near the start. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, and the trail sits higher than that station, so expect it to run a little cooler. The Sawteeth Scenic Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Fish Hawk Cliffs Trail and Indian Head Trail are each about half a mile off. Climbers can head to Pyramid Peak, about 1.6 miles away.
