Gill Brook Trail is a 2.2-mile hike in New York, about 3.5 miles from the town of Saint Huberts. It is a point-to-point route with a total elevation gain of 866 feet, and it is rated easy. The trail starts at about 2,231 feet and climbs to a high point of 3,122 feet, with a total descent of 518 feet along the way. Bikes and horses are not allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher parts run cooler. Gill Brook Cutoff Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Fish Hawk Cliffs Trail and Indian Head Trail are each about half a mile off. Climbers can head to Noonmark Mountain, roughly 1.4 miles away.
