Blue Trail is a short, easy hike in Taxter Ridge State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The route is about 1.3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 250 feet, and it rises from a low of about 386 feet to a high of about 523 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.26 miles in, with a grade of about 13 percent. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Dobbs Ferry-Ardsley show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, while July averages about 86°F. That station sits roughly 323 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The trail is a point-to-point route, and it is not open to bikes or horses. Two other trails start within half a mile: the Orange Trail and the Tarrytown Lakes Trail System. The Hudson Valley Greenway Trail (Elmsford to New Castle) is about a mile away, and V.E. Macy Park, a climbing area, is about 1.5 miles off.
