Red Wall is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land in the Socorro Field Office of New Mexico, about 7 miles from the town of Socorro. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, with Corner Block, The North End and the Northern Box areas all within about a tenth of a mile. The area has 22 routes, with sport climbing making up 12 of them and traditional climbing 10. Grades run from 5.7 to 5.12b, with the median around 5.9+. Among the named routes are Red Wall (5.7, trad), La Sombra (5.9, sport) and Armed and Dangerous (5.12b, sport), which was first climbed by Chuck Dahl in September 2016. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Socorro show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 73°F, while July and August average highs near 91°F with more wet days. For more time on the land, Box Canyon Rd and the Silva Trail are both within a mile. Water Canyon Campground, about 8 miles away, offers a place to stay.
