Ultimate Boulder is a bouldering area on Bureau of Land Management land in the Socorro Field Office of New Mexico, about 7 miles from the town of Socorro. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Filet de Papillon Wall (aka Dirt Wall), The Gimmes and Waterfall Wall/Underhang all within about a tenth of a mile. The area is a bouldering destination, with six routes spread across the V0 to V4 range on the V scale. The easiest is Left Line at V0, and the hardest is Africa Direct at V4. The Ultimate Boulder Problem and The Bobbitt Maneuver are both V1. The routes are all boulders, so there is no climbing on rope here. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Socorro show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 73°F, while July and August average highs near 91°F with more wet days. Water Canyon Campground, about 8 miles away, is the closest place to camp. Box Canyon Rd and North Box Trail are both within half a mile for a walk.
