Old La Luz (137B) is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail starts at about 7,200 feet, rising to about 8,000 feet over roughly 1.9 miles. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Sandia Park show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, while winter highs there sit in the low 40s. The trail sits close to several other routes and climbing areas. The Chimney Canyon Route and Old La Luz Trail are each about 0.2 miles away, and the Gemstone East and Gemstone West climbing areas are within half a mile.
