North Crest Trail is a 10.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The trail climbs from about 6,266 feet to roughly 10,632 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 3,741 feet. It is rated expert, so plan for a long, steep day. The route starts and ends near the high point, with the low point at the lower end of the climb. The trail is a single route, so the 21-mile round trip is the full distance for a return. Several other destinations sit within a short distance. Buried Cable Trail and Switchback Trail are both cross-country ski routes about 0.1 mile away. Kiwanis Meadow Road is a hiking route about 0.2 mile off, and the Santa Maria climbing area is about 0.2 mile away.
