Old Embudito Trail is an easy, short hike in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land. The trail is an out-and-back of about 0.68 miles, rising from 6,758 feet to 6,994 feet, with a one-way climb of about 200 feet. It sits within the designated wilderness, so it falls under the protections of that status. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall work well. Typical averages from the Sandia Park weather station, about 8 miles away at a similar elevation, run around 73°F highs in May and 77°F in September, with lows near 40°F and 46°F. Several other routes and climbing areas lie close by. Oso Ridge-Embudito Link is about half a mile away, and Embudito and Sunset Canyon Trail are each about 0.6 miles off. Climbers can head to the Manitoba/Montgomery Trailhead, roughly 0.6 miles away.
