Deadman Sidekick is a short, easy hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 1.3 miles, with a low point of 7,255 feet and a high of 7,365 feet, so the climb is only about 100 feet one way. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with lows in the mid-40s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run slightly cooler. Several other hikes start close by, including Deadman and Southern Crossing, each about 0.4 miles away, and Oak Flat and Pine Flat, each about 0.5 miles away. Climbers can find Block Wall about 2.5 miles off.
