Acequia is an easy, short hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, about 1.6 miles long with a 257-foot elevation gain. The trail is an out-and-back, starting at a low point of about 7,119 feet and reaching a high of about 7,389 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. It is a natural-surface route, and both horses and bikes are allowed. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station run to highs around 73°F in May and 77°F in September, with July and August near 80°F. Several other trails sit within a few tenths of a mile, including the Acequia Trail (227), the Wagon and the Cienega Horse Bypass Trail (266). Climbers can find Pino Wall about 3 miles away.
