The Monument is a climbing area in the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness, part of the Bureau of Land Management's Red Rock/Sloan Field Office in Nevada. It sits within designated wilderness, and the surrounding land is managed by the BLM. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 80°F and October highs around 75°F, while July averages about 95°F and January highs hover near 53°F. That station sits about 700 feet lower than the Monument, so temperatures up here run somewhat cooler. The area has 16 routes, 14 of which are trad, with grades ranging from 5.9 to 5.13a. Desert Gold is the hardest, and Headlamp Mechanics is the easiest. The Library and Burlap Buttress are both within a quarter mile. The Twin Towers and Black Velvet Canyon Boulders are about 0.2 miles away.
