Spit Roasted Wall is a climbing area in Nevada's Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the wall sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, including The Upper Deck, Lower Cliffs and Hustle Wall, all within about a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is sport, with one boulder route, and the grades run from 5.10a up to 5.11c. The most notable route is Spit Roasted, a 5.11b sport climb. Karmic Retribution, a boulder route at 5.11c, is the hardest of the seven listed. Jon O'Brien and Mike Moore are among the climbers who have left their mark on the wall. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Charleston show July highs around 79°F with lows near 52°F, while winter highs sit in the mid-40s. That station sits about 1,500 feet lower than the wall, so temperatures up high run cooler.
