McConnell Creek is a moderate 3.2-mile out-and-back hike on natural trail surface in the Santa Rosa Ranger District of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The trail rises about 656 feet from its low point of 5,191 feet to a high of 5,869 feet, and the Forest Service lists it as a horse trail, with horses allowed and bikes not allowed. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a lower elevation show May highs around 73°F and September highs near 83°F, while July and August average in the low 90s. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet below the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The hike is open from June 1 to October 15. Horse Canyon Trail is about 1.6 miles away, and Rock Creek Canyon Trail and Sawtooth Mountain Trail are each about 2.1 miles off. Falls Canyon lies roughly 2.4 miles away.
