Wolverine Lakes is a moderate 3-mile loop hike in the Fortine Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest. The trail rises from about 5,640 feet to about 6,860 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,069 feet. The trailhead is Wolverine Lakes TH 84, and the route is open year-round, so it works for any season. The trail is a natural-surface loop that accommodates both horses and bikes, making it a flexible choice for riders and pack animals. That makes it an easy fit for a longer day on foot or on a horseback ride. The hike pairs well with several other destinations within a few miles. Little Therriault Lake and Big Therriault Lake Campground are both about 2 miles away, and the Rainbow and Clarence Ness hikes are each within about a mile and a half.
