Highline is an easy out-and-back hike in the Fortine Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, about 5.8 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 795 feet. The trail rises from a low point of 7,179 feet to a high of 7,582 feet, and it is managed by the Forest Service. The route is natural-surfaced and open to both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and equestrians as well as hikers. The open season runs from June 1 to October 31. The trailhead sits close to several other destinations. The David Nesbitt mountain biking trail is just 0.3 miles away, and Paradise Lake and Bluebird are both within about 1.4 miles. For an overnight stay, Little Therriault Lake is about 2.2 miles off.
