Stuart Peak is a hard hike in the Missoula Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in western Montana. It is an out-and-back route that climbs about 7,460 feet over roughly 26 miles, from a low point of 3,608 feet to a high of 7,767 feet. The trail is natural surfaced and allows horses, making it a viable option for horseback riders as well as hikers. The Rattlesnake Horse Trailhead is the parking point for this trip, and the trail itself lies within the Missoula Ranger District. The surrounding area is well stocked with other routes, with Spring Gulch and the Rattlesnake Creek Cutoff B mountain biking trail both about 0.2 miles away. For a base overnight, Pattee Canyon Picnic Area is about 8 miles away.
