Spruce Lookout is a moderate out-and-back hike in Montana's Great Bear Wilderness, part of the Hungry Horse Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs about 6.6 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 2,074 feet. The route starts at a low point of about 4,813 feet and climbs to a high point of about 6,887 feet at the lookout. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so it works well for riders. Bikes are not permitted. The trip is open year-round, and the surrounding wilderness makes it a destination for a full day in the backcountry. Several other hikes sit close by, including Charlie Creek at about 0.7 miles and Long Creek at about 0.9 miles. For an overnight stay, Devil's Corkscrew Campground is about 7.5 miles away, and Bear Creek offers canoeing about 9.2 miles out.
