Rainy Lake East is a short, out-and-back hike in the Seeley Lake Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in Montana, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 1.2 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 23 feet, and it is rated hard. The route runs on natural surface, and bikes are allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Lindbergh Lake weather station show July and August highs around 78°F with lows near 50°F and only about seven wet days a month. Winter is cold and snowy, with highs in the low 30s and snow on roughly half the days in December and January. Rainy Lake West and Rainy Lake Campground both sit about 0.1 mile away. Lake Alva Campground Complex is about a mile off, and the Rovero Trail is roughly 1.4 miles away.
