Evans Gulch is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District of Montana's Lolo National Forest. The trail runs about 2.9 miles with a total elevation gain of 1,158 feet, taking you from a low point of 4,315 feet to a high of 5,475 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mullan Pass show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month. That station sits about 550 feet higher than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run a little warmer. The trail is natural-surface, and it allows horses and bikes. Upper Glidden lies about 1.3 miles away and Glidden Creek about 1.6 miles. Across the line in Idaho, Upper Blossom Lake and the Upper Blossom Trail are each about 2.8 miles off.
