Pine Point Loop is a short, easy cross-country ski route in Massachusetts, about 2 miles from the town of Carlisle. The loop is only about half a mile long, with a total elevation gain of about 20 feet, so it's a gentle outing that works well as a warm-up or a quick addition to a longer day on the snow. The route is an out-and-back, and the climb is minimal. The highest point on the loop is about 176 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early on, with a grade of about 6 percent. Because the loop is so short, it pairs easily with other nearby trails. Winter is the natural season for this route. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bedford show January highs around 36°F and lows near 18°F, with snow on about eight days that month. Snow days drop to zero from May through September, when the weather warms into the 70s and 80s. Garrison Loop is just 0.1 mile away, and Woodchuck Trail and Deer Run are both within a third of a mile. For a change of pace, the Chelmsford Lime Quarry climbing area is about 3 miles off.
