The Oak Flats is a bouldering area in Massachusetts, about half a mile from the town of West Townsend. It sits among several other named bouldering spots, including Forest Boulder, Peter Pan Boulder and Bird Gang Boulder, all about 0.1 mile away, and Barker Hill, which is just as close. The climbing here is all bouldering, with six routes in total, and the grades range from V0 to V2. Summer and early fall are the mildest times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Fitchburg run from highs around 76°F in June to about 73°F in September, with July peaking near 81°F. Winters are cold, with January highs averaging around 34°F. The area's boulders make it a compact destination, with Forest Boulder and Peter Pan Boulder right next door. The Squannacook River, about 1.3 miles away, offers paddling, and the Brook Trail, roughly 2.2 miles off, is an option for a hike.
