Lowell & Lawrence Railroad is a short, nearly flat mountain biking ride of about 2 miles, set in Massachusetts just over a mile from the village of West Parish. The climb is an out-and-back, and the route gains just 13 feet from its low point of 120 feet to a high of 133 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about half a mile in, with a grade of 8 percent, but the overall rise is almost nothing. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lawrence run from highs of 68°F in May to 74°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. Pray Field Trail is less than a mile away, and the Bay Circuit Trail is about 1.8 miles off.
