Desperado is a climbing area in Den Rock Park in Massachusetts, on city land. It sits within the park's own climbing cluster, with Petroleum Base Buttress about 0.1 mile away and Den Rock Park also about 0.1 mile away. The area is managed by the city. The climbing here is a mix of top rope and trad routes, with six routes in total. The grades run from 5.5 to 5.9+, and the top rope routes are the most common. Desperado, a 5.6 top rope, and its variation at 5.7 are among the named routes. Left Crack Corner is a trad route at 5.8-, and Big Al is a trad route at 5.9+. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lawrence put May highs around 68°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. Hikers can find the River Walk about 1.7 miles away and the Yellow Loop about 1.8 miles away. Wilmington Boulders, about 4.8 miles off, offers more climbing.
