Foundation Run is a green circle mountain biking trail in Maryland, set within the Loch Raven Reservoir area. It's a short, low-lying ride with no elevation gain, making it an easy choice for riders of all levels. The trail's gentle, flowing singletrack winds through mixed hardwood forests, offering a smooth and forgiving surface that lets riders focus on handling fundamentals. Its easy rating makes it a natural first step for those moving from paved paths to natural terrain, and it works just as well as a warm-up or recovery ride for more experienced riders. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Cylburn show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 66°F, while July averages climb to about 86°F. Dogs are allowed on leash. The trail sits right next to Merryman's Mill Trail, with The Backyard about 0.3 miles away. Loch Raven Reservoir, a lake fishing spot, is roughly 1.4 miles off, and the Big Gunpowder Falls - Hereford Area climbing area is about 4.1 miles away.
