Orange Trail is a short fire road in Maryland, about 0.14 miles from the Loch Raven Reservoir. Baltimore City owns it, and it was built for emergency access to the woods. Recreational users ride and walk it, so it works for both hiking and mountain biking. The route is an out-and-back of about 0.28 miles, with a total climb of 64 feet. The road rises from about 394 feet to 439 feet, and the steepest stretch comes within the first 0.05 miles at about 5 percent grade. The climb is front-loaded, so the road is easier to ride once you pass the high point. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Cylburn weather station show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 66°F, while July averages about 86°F. Fire Road lies about 0.1 miles away, and the lower and upper sections of the Merryman's Mill Trail are within half a mile. Loch Raven Reservoir offers fishing about 2.3 miles off.
