Abol Slide Trail is a hard hike in Maine's Baxter State Park, within the Appalachian Trail corridor. The land is managed by State Park and Recreation, and the trail runs about 2.9 miles with a total elevation gain of 3,284 feet. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is steep, with the high point at 4,633 feet and the low at 1,293 feet. The trail starts at about 4,619 feet and ends lower, so the total loss is about 3,388 feet. Bikes and horses are not allowed. The Baxter Peak Cutoff Trail begins just 0.1 mile away, and the Knife Edge Trail and Saddle Trail are each about 0.8 mile off. Climbers can find the Chimney Pond ("South") Basin - Summer Rock Routes about 1.6 miles away.
