Porcupine Loop is a 13.3-mile loop hike in Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest, within the Minidoka Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated hard. The route starts at about 6,862 feet and climbs to a high point of 7,857 feet, with a total gain of 2,114 feet. The climb is steepest around mile 5.9, where the grade reaches about 15%, and the trail returns to its starting elevation by the end. Porcupine Springs Family Campground Loop D and Porcupine Springs Campground sit within a few tenths of a mile of the loop, making them the closest places to camp. Telephone Canyon and Diamondfield Jack Campground are also close by, about half a mile and 0.7 miles away.
