Kennally Creek Pack Trail is a 16.4-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, within the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route rises from a low point of 4,762 feet to a high of 7,557 feet, with a total elevation gain of 5,571 feet. It is a hard hike, and the climb is the defining challenge. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Deadwood Lodge, which sits about 1,600 feet lower than the trail's high point, show July highs around 82°F with lows near 40°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to conditions on the trail, which sits higher and runs cooler. Lake Creek lies just 0.4 miles away, and Big Baldy Ridge and Little Soldier Lookout are both within about 2.6 miles. Paddlers can find Pistol Creek roughly 8 miles off.
