Hunter Creek is a 5.4-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest, within the Lost River Ranger District. The trail rises from about 8,100 feet to a high point of 9,401 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,282 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is rated moderate. The trail is natural-surfaced and open year-round. Bikes and horses are both allowed, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The climb is a steady one, and the route is long enough to take a full day. North Fork Lake lies about a mile away, and Squib Canyon is roughly 2.3 miles off. For an overnight stay, Park Creek Campground is about 7.7 miles away, and the North Fork Big Lost River offers canoeing about 6 miles from the trail.
