Gabe's Peak is a hard hike in Idaho's Boise National Forest, within the Emmett Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back of about 7.9 miles, with a total elevation gain of 3,084 feet, taking you from a low point of about 5,314 feet to the summit at 7,574 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trailhead is named Gabes Peak Trailhead. The route is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes. The trailhead parking is labeled GABES PEAK TRAILHEAD, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Deadwood Lodge, which sits about 1,600 feet lower than the summit, show July highs around 82°F with lows near 40°F. At the peak, temperatures run cooler. Nearby, the Antelope and Wilson Corrals hikes are within a few miles. Antelope Campground and the Antelope fishing spot are about 5.6 miles away.
