Poison Creek is a hard hike in the Emmett Ranger District of Boise National Forest, about 8.4 miles long, on Forest Service land. The trail climbs from a low of about 5,400 feet to a high of about 7,560 feet, so plan for a steep out-and-back. Bikes and horses are both allowed on this natural-surfaced trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F and lows near 40°F, while winter highs stay in the low to mid 30s. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures up high run cooler. Nearby, Greenfield Flat is 0.8 miles away and the Division Stock Trail is 1.5 miles away.
