Logan Turnpike is a 3.8-mile out-and-back hike in the Raven Cliffs Wilderness, part of the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia. The trail crosses into the Appalachian National Scenic Trail corridor, and the Forest Service manages the land. The route rises from about 1,974 feet to 3,142 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,379 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.11 miles in, with a grade of nearly 29 percent. The trail is natural-surface and not open to bikes. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Blairsville run to highs around 76°F in May and 80°F in September, with October highs near 70°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the ridge run cooler. The hike takes about 2.5 hours. Tesnatee Gap Trail, a climbing area, is just 0.1 mile away, and Whitley Gap Shelter is 0.4 mile off. A.T. Whitley Gap Shelter offers camping about 1.2 miles away, and Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area is about 2.7 miles away.
