Mooween State Park covers 575 acres in eastern Connecticut, about 6 miles from Colchester. The park holds five trails, which makes it a compact destination for a few hours of walking on foot paths that branch through its acreage. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Norwich put May highs around 70°F and September highs around 76°F, with cooler nights in the 50s by September. Three of the park's trails sit within half a mile of its center: the White Trail, the Black-Dot Trail and the Green Trail. Paddlers can head to the Yantic River, about a mile away.
