Yellow Trail is an easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.8 miles from the town of Gilman. The route is 4.4 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 281 feet and a total loss of 416 feet. It is a point-to-point trail, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.59 miles in, with a 10% grade. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Norwich show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 84°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The Green Trail and Red Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the White Trail is about 0.2 mile off. Paddlers can reach the Yantic River, roughly 0.9 mile away.
