Summit Trail is a short, point-to-point hike in Connecticut, about 1.3 miles from Chatsworth Village. The route is 0.31 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 116 feet, and it rises from a starting point of about 499 feet to a high point of 579 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.16 miles in, where the grade reaches 12 percent. The trail is not a loop, and the route ends at the high point. It is a quick outing, estimated to take about half an hour, and it works well as a short addition to a day spent exploring the surrounding trails. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Barkhamsted show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 75°F, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. Several other trails sit within about 0.4 miles, including Creek Trail, North Trail and Spring Pond Trail. Climbers can find Firetown Road and Crown Jewel about 1.6 miles away.
