Park Road is a short, easy hike in Hartman Park in Connecticut, about 1.4 miles long with a total elevation gain of 138 feet. The route is a point-to-point trail, and the steepest stretch comes at about half a mile in, where the grade reaches 23 percent. The trail starts at an elevation of 216 feet and ends at 366 feet, with a total descent of 291 feet along the way. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Norwich show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 84°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher part of the route run cooler. The Heritage Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the White Trail and Red Trail in Hartman are both within half a mile. For more time outdoors, Nehantic State Forest and the East Branch Eightmile River are about 2.3 miles off.
