Hein Hiking Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 0.7 miles long and rising about 120 feet from a low point of 541 feet to a high of 640 feet. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.09 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. The nearest town is Davidsons Corner, about half a mile away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Carmel show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, while July averages about 85°F. That station sits roughly 460 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The trail takes about half an hour to complete. Carol and Polly's Path is about half a mile away, and the Old Field Trail and Eric L. Stone Trail are both within about 2 miles. Climbers can find Hermit Boulders about 2 miles off.
