The Blue-Orange Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut's Ragged Mountain Memorial Preserve, a point-to-point route of about 0.7 miles with a total elevation gain of 220 feet. It starts at a low point of about 245 feet and reaches a high of about 486 feet, with the steepest stretch at roughly 0.47 miles in, where the grade reaches about 13 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, and the preserve sits higher than that station, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The trail makes an easy pairing with other routes in the preserve. The Blue-White Trail and Blue-Red Trail both lie about 0.6 miles away, and the Orange Trail is about 1.5 miles off. Climbers can find Nyack Beach State Park about 0.6 miles away.
