Silvershield Trail is a 4.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Ouray Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado. The trail rises from a low point of 7,618 feet to a high of 9,310 feet, a climb of 1,693 feet one way, and it is rated hard. The trailhead is at the Silvershield Trailhead parking area, and the route is part of the RWN trail network. Horses are allowed, dogs must be leashed, and bikes are not. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Ouray weather station, about 1.5 miles away, show July highs near 79°F with lows around 53°F, while winter brings highs in the mid-30s and regular snow days from December through February. Ouray RV Park sits just 0.1 mile away, and the Silvershield mountain biking area is 0.2 mile off. The Ouray Rotary Park-Rink Wall climbing area and the Uncompahgre River Walk cross-country ski route are both about 0.3 mile away.
