Blixt is a demanding out-and-back hike in Colorado's Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, within the Norwood Ranger District. The route climbs from about 13,000 feet to a high point of 13,157 feet, with a total elevation gain of 5,824 feet over a distance of about 5.3 miles. The steepest stretch, a 41% grade, comes at about 0.6 miles from the start. The trail is natural-surfaced and open to both bikes and horses, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trail is rated expert, and the trip takes about 4.5 hours. The SWAMP CANYON parking area is the trailhead, and the route stays open year-round. The Wasatch and Lewis Mine hikes both start within a mile. Alta Lakes Camping Area lies about 3 miles away, and the Main Wall climbing area is about the same distance.
