Ragnarok Dome is a climbing area in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Placerville Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the dome sits among a cluster of climbing spots and campgrounds, making it a natural base for a day or longer in the area. The climbing here is a mix of sport and trad routes, with eight routes in total. The grades run from 5.6 up to 5.11d, and the most common are in the 5.10 range. Ragnarok, a trad route at 5.10a/b, and Bullet Ride, a trad route at 5.11b, are among the named options. The 31 Milestone Tract lies just 0.1 mile away, and Sand Flat Campground is 0.2 mile off, so it's easy to pair a climb with an overnight stay. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August average about 90°F. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the dome, so temperatures on the dome run cooler.
