Pete is a bouldering area on Ferrini Ranch Open Space in California, a city-managed open space unit. It sits among a cluster of climbing and hiking spots, with Bishop Peak Trail and the Bishop Peak Bouldering area about 0.1 mile away, and the Felsman Loop Trail and the Chlorissa climbing area also within a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all bouldering, with eight routes spread across the V0+ to V7-8 range. Pete's Problem is a V5 boulder problem named after Pete Gulyash, and Colin's problem v8 variation is the hardest of the bunch. The area is best suited to climbers who enjoy bouldering on a small scale, with no single route standing out as a must-do. Summer is the driest and warmest stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with no wet days, while winter brings highs in the mid-60s and about nine wet days a month. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. For an overnight stay, Cerro Alto is about 9 miles away and Morro Bay State Park Campground is about 10 miles away.
