Owl Tor is a climbing area in the Santa Lucia Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots and hiking routes, so it works well as a stop in a day of exploring the district. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Twitchell Dam weather station, about 15 miles away, show highs around 70 to 78°F from May through September, with only a day or two of rain a month. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than Owl Tor, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Big Rocks is about a mile away, and Hwy 166/Silly Rock is about 1.2 miles off. The Gifford hike is about 1.4 miles away, and Doom Wall is about 1.7 miles away.
