Left Over Bun is a climbing area in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Placerville Ranger District and managed by the Forest Service. It sits in a cluster of rock with several other climbing areas close by, so it works well as part of a longer day in the district. The area is home to five routes, with trad and sport styles represented. The routes run from 5.6 to 5.9+, with trad climbers looking to Smokestack and Buns Away and sport climbers to Lumpy Rump and Belly Roll Arch. The hardest of the lot is Belly Roll Arch, a sport route at 5.9+. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 66°F, with only a handful of wet days in each. The station sits roughly 770 feet below the area, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Summer is hot, with July highs near 90°F. Two climbing areas, Sugarbun and Midway Rock, sit just 0.1 mile away. Sugarloaf Peak is a hike about 0.4 mile off, and Sand Flat Campground is about a mile away.
