Chew Tooth is a climbing area in Castle Rock State Park in California, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, including California Ridge, Platypus and Shady Rock, all about a tenth of a mile away. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run highs around 67°F in May and 71°F in October, while July and August average about 81°F. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures at Chew Tooth run cooler. The Castle Rock Trail starts about 0.2 miles away, and the Ridge Trail is about half a mile off. For time on the water, the San Lorenzo River is roughly 9 miles away.
