31 Milestone Tract is a climbing area in California's Eldorado National Forest, within the Placerville Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits close to several other climbing spots and campgrounds, making it a convenient base for a day or longer in the district. The climbing here is all trad, with three routes listed at the 5.10a to 5.10b level. They are SYN, Thin SYN and Jagermonster. The grades are typical for the area, and the routes are close enough together to make it easy to move between them. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Pacific House show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August average about 90°F. That station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the tract, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Ragnarok Dome is just 0.1 mile away, and Sand Flat Campground is 0.2 mile off. Left Over Bun is 0.8 mile away, and Sugarloaf Peak is 1.2 mile away for a hike.
