Aster is a short mountain biking route in the Truckee Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The ride is an out-and-back of about 0.4 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of about 77 feet, and it starts and ends at roughly 7,100 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 44°F and only a couple of wet days, while winter highs there sit around 40°F with lows near 17°F. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The Claim Jumper Bike Route and Claim Jumper are both about 0.2 miles away. Power Line Boulder, a climbing area, is under a mile off, and Milton Reservoir, a lake fishing spot, is about 1.4 miles away.
